Dans les années 1930, au Royaume-Uni, le prince Albert, deuxième fils du roi George V, vit un grave problème de bégaiement. L'abdication de son frère aîné Édouard VIII l'oblige à monter sur le trône sous le nom de George VI. Or le roi doit s'exprimer en public. Sur l'insistance de sa femme, il rencontre Lionel Logue, orthophoniste australien aux méthodes peu orthodoxes. La méthode de Logue fonctionne, malgré les réticences du prince. Or, malgré tout, Albert doit surmonter ses difficultés de langage au moment où l'Europe entre dans la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Vu avec des enfants stoïques pour le jeune âge (en VO), excellent film et magnifique bande son signée Alexandre Desplat - faut dire qu'il y avait surtout beaucoup de Ludwig Van et que moi j'aime ça.
